Confusions and Plaza Suite (2015)

In 2015, we acted out three short comedies: “Mother figure” and “Drinking companions” from Alan Ayckbourn’s “Confusions” and Act 3 of “Plaza Suite” by Neil Simon.

Mother Figure

Lucy, a young mother, hasn’t left the house in a while as she has to look after her children. Because she doesn’t answer her husband Harry’s phone calls, Harry asks their neighbours to check on Lucy. When the dissatisfied Rosemary and Terry, a chauvinist, meet Lucy, they decide that something is wrong with her: she treats them the only way she knows how to treat people – like children…

Drinking Companion

Harry, husband of Lucy, tries to pick up the saleswoman Paula in a bar by buying her one drink after another. Paula, who enjoys the free drinks, is not interested but can’t decide to leave either. As her friend Bernice approaches, Harry tries to chat her up as well and even gives Paula his room key in obvious hope of further involvement. By then, the two women are bent on flight.

Plaza Suite Act 3

Norma and Roy Hubley are in big trouble – their daughter Mimsey has locked herself into the bathroom of the Plaza Suite without warning and won’t come out to get married. They frantically attempt to get their daughter out of the bathroom while the gathered guests await the trio’s arrival downstairs.
